Further east, the suburban progression toward Macedonia and Oakwood is punctuated by the sharp descent of local waterways, most notably at Brandywine Falls and Buttermilk Falls. The infrastructure of the era is visible in the alignment of Freeway Dr and the massive Brecksville-Northfield High Level Bridge, which spans the river valley. Smaller pockets of older settlement, such as Jaite, Alexander, and Little York, persist alongside newer developments like Macedonia Commons Blvd.
