The sprawling waters of Kinkaid Lake and the dense woodlands of the Shawnee National Forest dominate this Jackson County landscape. This 2018 survey documents a region defined by recreational geography and small rural settlements, with Oraville situated in the northeast and Grimsby located near the southern margin. The irregular shoreline of the lake, created by the damming of Kinkaid Creek, creates numerous inlets and peninsulas, such as the area near Kinkaid Lake N. To the south, the Big Muddy River winds through the bottomlands, accompanied by Worthen Bayou. For those researching local family history, several small burial sites are preserved across the terrain, including Creath Morris Cem, Williamson Cem, and Lone Oak Cem. The southern reach of the quadrangle also features the Rendleman Airport, located near the intersection of the river and the marshy lowlands.
