The high-desert settlement of Oreana serves as the focal point of this 2020 Owyhee County survey, situated at the junction of Oreana Rd and Short Cut Rd. The landscape is defined by a series of intermittent drainage systems carving through the terrain, including Hart Creek and Pickett Creek. To the northwest, the prominent Fossil Butte rises above the surrounding flats near the headwaters of Fossil Creek. A network of local ranching roads, such as Nettleton Rd and Rye Patch Rd, crisscrosses the township and range lines, indicating the area's continued use for livestock and land management. The geography is characterized by deep ravines like Catherine Creek and significant elevation changes marked along Bachman Grade Rd, illustrating the complex topography of the Snake River Plain's southern edge.
