The Lamine River and its numerous tributaries define the rural landscape of eastern Cooper County in this 2011 survey. Centered between the small towns of Otterville and Syracuse, the terrain is marked by a complex drainage system including Otter Creek, Flat Creek, and Richland Creek. This network of waterways historically influenced the placement of farms and cemeteries across the region.
