Packsaddle Butte rises as a prominent landmark in the southwestern portion of this landscape, overlooking a complex drainage system within the Gallatin National Forest. The northeastern corner is defined by the Yellowstone River, which runs adjacent to a series of creek drainages including Greycliff Cr and Silver Cr. These waterways carve through the terrain, creating named geographic features such as Norwegian Gulch and Overfelt Gulch.
