Craters of the Moon National Preserve dominates the central portion of this Blaine County landscape, where the volcanic geology of Idaho meets the irrigation-dependent agriculture of the Snake River Plain. The northern reaches are defined by the winding course of the Little Wood River and Silver Creek, which are supplemented by the W Canal for local water management. The terrain is characterized by distinct volcanic features like Monument Butte, which rises above the surrounding flats in the southern portion of the quadrangle.
