Pahvant Butte dominates the southern landscape of this Millard County quadrangle, rising from the desert floor as a prominent volcanic landmark. The 2020 survey illustrates the remote and arid character of the region, where water sources are vital geographic markers. In the northern reaches of the map, Mud Lake Spring serves as a critical point of reference in an otherwise sparsely populated terrain. To the southwest, Mud Springs provides another natural water feature near the base of the volcanic formations. The topographical detail also highlights Knobby, a distinct terrain feature located to the east. This modern U.S. Geological Survey update provides an accurate record of the local hydrology and landforms as they exist in the early 21st century, useful for those tracking the environmental history of the Sevier Desert area.
