The settlement of Parlin sits at the confluence of Tomichi Creek and Quartz Creek in this 2001 revision of the local landscape. Much of the northern terrain is managed under the Gunnison National Forest, featuring the protected Fossil Ridge Wilderness and its namesake Fossil Ridge Wilderness Trail. The map documents a rugged high-altitude environment marked by significant mineral extraction history, including the Brown Derby Mine and Willow Creek Mine, alongside numerous unnamed Prospects. Transportation and recreation are primary themes, with the Colorado Trail skirting the northwest corner and the Parlin Pitkin Road following the creek valleys. A network of gulches, such as Sewell Gulch and Tollgate Gulch, drain the ridges toward the central valleys where the Big Seep Reservoir and various gaging stations monitor the area's vital water resources.
