Parmachenee Lake and the international boundary between the United States and Canada define this remote section of northern Maine. The landscape is dominated by complex drainage systems, including the Magalloway River and the Cupsuptic River, which carve through the high elevations of Thrasher Peaks and Bottle Mtn. The hydrology of the region is particularly dense, featuring isolated water bodies like Cleveland Pond, Otter Pond, and Wells Pond connected by various brooks such as the north and south branches of Black Cat Brook.
