Sabine National Forest spans the heart of this East Texas terrain where the borders of Shelby, San Augustine, and Sabine counties converge. The settlement of Patroon sits in the northwest, while Sexton marks the central crossing of FM 330. This area is characterized by a dense network of watercourses, including the winding Patroon Bayou and its numerous tributaries such as Mushotubba Cr and Indian Cr. The land rises toward Forse Mtn and the Matlock Hills, offering a distinct topography compared to the surrounding bayou lowlands.
