Pearson Ridge and the high basins of Umatilla County are defined by a complex network of alpine meadows and seasonal drainages. The landscape is structured around the significant forks of the Cable Creek system, including North Fork Cable Creek and South Fork Cable Creek, which carve through the high country. In the southern portion of the sheet, a series of open spaces including Long Meadows, Upper Long Meadow, and Winom Meadows suggest a long history of high-altitude grazing or seasonal resource use.
