Industrial activity at the turn of the century is evident along the outlet east of Penn Yan, where a series of milling sites including Milo Mills, Seneca Mills, and Keuka Mills utilized the falling water. The map traces the early transit corridors of the region, including the Electric R. R. route and numerous small lakeside landings like Chilsey Pt. and Ciaconia. From the western shores at Branchport to the eastern upland settlements of Second Milo and Benton Center, the survey illustrates a well-established agricultural and milling economy before the modern reorganization of these lakeside communities.
