Pinedale and Iyanbito anchor this portion of the Eastern Navajo Agency, where the high desert terrain is defined by dramatic mesas and canyon roads. The landscape transitions from the southern plains near the S Fork Puerco River up toward the prominent heights of Midget Mesa and Mesa Butte. The local infrastructure is a complex network of agency and service routes, including Navajo Svc Rte 11 and Indian Svc Rte 7026, which connect the scattered residences and traditional lands of the McKinley County area.
