Pledger and the surrounding coastal prairies of the Wharton and Matagorda county line are defined by a complex network of slow-moving waterways and sloughs. This landscape is shaped by the meandering course of Caney Cr, which winds through the southeastern portion of the map, alongside several distinct drainage features such as Quinine Slough, Gardner Slough, and Water Hole Cr. These hydrologic patterns dictate the layout of rural roads and the placement of small community hubs.
