In the southwestern portion of the sheet, the Kukpowruk River cuts through the low-lying terrain, creating a distinct hydrological divide near the surveyed boundary of t2n r45w. This 2014 survey documents the intricate drainage patterns of the North Slope, where the land is defined by numerous unnamed lakes and ponds typical of the permafrost-underlain tundra. The arrangement of the Public Land Survey System boundaries, including t3n r44w and t3n r45w, provides a spatial framework for understanding this remote coastal plain before significant modern infrastructure development.
