Malad Valley serves as the central corridor for this 2014 survey, where the Malad River and the Samaria Lake Canal define the irrigation and drainage of the agricultural floor. The settlements of Portage and Plymouth anchor the northern and southern reaches of the map, connected by a network of rural roads such as Old Highway Rd and Johnson Canyon Rd. To the west, the landscape transitions into the West Hills, while the east is dominated by the steep rises of the Caribou National Forest. Local history is preserved at the Washakie Cem and Plymouth Cem, marking the heritage of these small communities. The terrain is deeply incised by numerous canyons, including Broad Canyon and Castlegate Canyon, which drain the high peaks of Clarkston Mtn and Gunsight Peak into the valley below.
