Portland anchors the eastern edge of this landscape, where the Ronnie McDowell Pkwy intersects with a network of rural routes at the Tennessee-Kentucky border. The terrain is defined by the headwaters of the Red River, including Buntin Br and Austin Br, which carve through the plateau.
