Pot Mountain dominates the southeastern corner of this arid landscape, overlooking a complex system of active and relict watercourses. The hydrology of this Millard County region is defined by the Sevier River and its meandering Old Channel Sevier River, alongside the seasonal and intermittent reaches of the Beaver River. The landscape is dotted with brackish and freshwater features including Blue Lake, Carr Lake, and Swan Lake, the latter being associated with the extensive Swan Lake Salt Marsh. Settlement is sparse, represented by Black Rock in the northeast and isolated water access points such as Headquarters Well and Jensen Well. A series of utilitarian county roads, including W 16000 S, cross the terrain, illustrating the remote nature of this part of Utah in the early 21st century.
