Pot Mountain and the surrounding high desert of Millard County are defined by complex hydrologic history and volcanic geology. This survey documents a landscape where water is both scarce and foundational, anchored by the Old Channel Sevier River as it winds through the arid basin. To the north, the modern Sevier River and Blue Lake provide a sharp contrast to the extensive Swan Lake Salt Marsh and the often dry beds of Swan Lake and Carr Lake. These features, along with Jensen Spring, reveal the critical water sources that have sustained life in this corner of the Great Basin. The presence of Black Rock further indicates the volcanic character of the terrain, offering a clear record of the geological formations that dominate the eastern portion of the quadrangle.
