Pickwick Lake and the Tennessee River dominate the northern landscape of this region, where the Lauderdale Co Colbert Co boundary follows the water's course. The river is dotted with significant landforms such as Sevenmile Island, Buck Island, and Horseshoe Bend, while the Key Cave National Wildlife Refuge preserves the northern bank. South of the river, the terrain rises into prominent ridges and summits including Hawk Pride Mountain and Sandfall Mtn, interspersed with deep drainage ways like Thompson Hollow and Keenum Hollow.
