Lake Chelan borders the southwest corner of this wilderness area, where the Prince Creek Campground serves as a remote access point along the water. The landscape is defined by the high, sharp elevations of Sawtooth Ridge and the Okanogan and Chelan County line. The terrain transitions from the lakeshore up through dramatic vertical climbs, passing through Indianhead Basin and over Finney Ridge.

Evidence of early high-country activity is visible at Miners Basin and the descriptively named Devils Kitchen. The Prince Creek drainage system, including its Middle Fork and East Fork, carves deep paths through the Wenatchee National Forest. High-altitude water bodies like Bernice Lake, Surprise Lake, and Cub Lake are scattered among the peaks, including the curiously named Skookum Puss Mtn. Navigation through this steep region is primarily facilitated by the Lakeshore Trail and paths following the creek beds.
