About this map

The Red River serves as the prominent divider between Oklahoma and Texas in this section of the borderlands. Flowing along the southern portion of the quadrangle, the river is flanked by the state boundary lines of Jackson Co and Hardeman Co. To the north, the landscape is defined by a rigid grid of rural section roads, such as E1780 Rd and N1900 Rd, which cut through the drainage basins of Mule Cr and Sandy Cr. Of particular interest to genealogists and local historians is the Odema Cem, located north of the river near the center of the sheet. This site remains one of the few named landmarks in an otherwise sparsely populated agricultural region, offering a primary point of reference for families tracing their roots to this corner of Jackson County.
