Hungry Horse Reservoir dominates this high-altitude landscape within the Flathead National Forest, where the waters of the South Fork Flathead River are held deep within the drainage. The topography is defined by significant peaks such as Mt Baptiste, Prospector Mtn, and Battery Mtn, creating a complex network of steep-sided drainages. Of particular interest to local historians is the Baptiste Grave and nearby Baptiste Springs, which suggest a human connection to this wilderness that predates the reservoir's creation. The settlement of Quintonkon and its namesake Quintonkon Cr occupy the southwest, while the rugged north is carved by the evocatively named Devils Corkscrew Cr. This 2017 survey reflects a landscape of managed forest service roads, including W Side Rd and E Side Rd, which provide access to the remote timber and recreation lands of Flathead County.
