Rogue River National Forest and Umpqua National Forest converge in this high-altitude region of the Cascade Range, where the boundary between Douglas and Jackson counties follows the rugged drainage divides. The landscape is defined by its volcanic geology and water resources, featuring prominent peaks such as Ragsdale Butte, Devils Knob, and Cowbell Mtn. A complex network of Forest Service roads and timber trails, including the Wolf Rdg Fire TS and Timbered Rock TS, provides access to these elevations.
