Flathead River waters flow through this remote section of the Lewis and Clark Range, where the landscape is defined by the sharp elevations of the Great Bear Wilderness. The terrain is characterized by a series of prominent peaks and ridgelines, including Red Plume Mountain, Baldhead Mountain, and the distinct Square Mountain. These natural barriers dictate the drainage patterns of numerous waterways such as Granite Creek and Morrison Creek, which carve deep valleys through the Puzzle Hills.
