Buffalo Gap National Grassland and Badlands National Park meet in this landscape of elevated plateaus and carved drainage systems. The northern reaches are dominated by the winding path of the Cheyenne River, while the southern portion features the distinctive flat-topped elevations of Plenty Star Table and Blindman Table. These landforms rise above a network of seasonal watercourses and deep incisions, most notably Battle Creek Canyon.
