Redford and the nearby settlement of Polvo anchor this remote section of the Big Bend region along the Rio Grande. The landscape is defined by the sharp transition between the river's fertile floodplain and the dramatic erosional features of the Chinati and Bofecillos mountains, including Bofecillos Canyon and Las Burras Canyon. This survey captures the rural infrastructure serving these small desert communities, such as Cemetery Rd leading to Redford Cem and the utility access of Water Tower Rd. Following the winding course of the international boundary, Fm 170—known locally as the River Road—cuts through the rugged terrain, crossing several deep arroyos like Auras Canyon and El Calabazar Canyon. The map clearly delineates the border between the United States of America and Estados Unidos Mexicanos as it follows the centerline of the river valley.
