
The town of Ripon anchors the northeast corner of this map, situated where the Southern Pacific railroad meets the Stanislaus River. This fertile section of the Central Valley is defined by a complex hydrologic network, ranging from the meandering river courses of the San Joaquin River to engineered structures like the Hetch Hetchy Aqueduct and numerous irrigation channels including Lateral Number Six and Lateral Number Four.
