1974 Map of Salemburg

USGS Topo · Published 1977

About this map

Salemburg serves as the primary settlement in this corner of Sampson County, characterized by a dense network of swampy drainages and scattered rural crossroads. The landscape is defined by the broad, meandering corridor of Little Coharie Creek and its many tributaries, including Big Swamp and Jones Swamp. One of the most distinctive geological features is the large, elliptical depression of Dismal Bay in the northern portion of the map, a classic example of the Carolina Bays found in this region.
