About this map

Salt Lake City and the heavily industrial corridor of the Wasatch Front anchor the western edge of this mid-century survey. Industrial and institutional landmarks are prominent, including the Geneva Steel Plant near Orem and the Utah State Prison at the base of the mountains. The landscape transitions sharply from the urbanized valley containing Provo and Murray to the high alpine reaches of the Wasatch Range and the Uinta Mountains.
