The confluence of the Trinity River and the South Fork Trinity River anchors this 2018 survey of the California mountains at the border of Humboldt and Trinity Counties. Small communities like Salyer, Trinity Village, and China Flat are connected by a network of forest routes and local roads, such as Seeley McIntosh Rd and Friday Ridge Rd, that navigate the steep elevations of Waterman Ridge and Baldwin Ridge. Much of the landscape is contained within the Six Rivers National Forest, including the high peaks of the Salmon Mountains to the east.
