The dramatic gorge and plateau topography of the Cumberland Plateau defines this mid-century survey of the Van Buren and Bledsoe county line. The landscape is dominated by the steep incisions of Cane Creek and its tributaries, including the namesake Falls Creek Falls. Much of the southern territory is preserved within Falls Creek Falls State Park, featuring the Falls Creek Falls Scout Camp and several prominent overlooks.

Settlement is concentrated along the higher, flatter ground between the gorges, where small communities like Sampson and Mooneyham serve the local population. Evidence of the rural social fabric of the 1950s is visible in the presence of the New Martin Sch, Mt Della Ch, and Mt View Ch. Local industry is represented by a Quarry and a Strip Mine, while the northeastern portion of the sheet transitions into the protected woodlands of the Bledsoe State Forest.
