About this map

San Gregorio and Pescadero serve as the primary coastal hubs in this early 1960s survey of the San Mateo shoreline. The landscape is defined by the steep westward descent from the San Gregorio (Rodriguez) and San Antonio or Pescadero ridges toward the Pacific Ocean. This interface is preserved within the San Mateo Coast State Beaches Park, which encompasses numerous points of public access including San Gregorio Beach, Pomponio Beach, and Pescadero Beach. The drainage patterns of the Santa Cruz Mountains are clearly visible as Tunitas Creek, San Gregorio Creek, and Pescadero Creek carve deep valleys through the coastal hills. Genealogists will find the locations of St Anthony Cem and Mt Hope Cem near the southern boundary, while historians can trace the early transportation network along Stage Road and Tunitas Creek Road.
