About this map

The Muskegon River and Little Muskegon River converge at Croton in this mid-century survey, where the Croton Dam creates the expansive Croton Dam Pond. This watery landscape, protected in part by the Manistee National Forest, is dotted with numerous glacial lakes such as Pettit Lake and Bills Lake. The southern half of the quadrangle shows a transition to agricultural and rural residential development, particularly around Ensley Center and Pierson.
