Routt National Forest dominates this landscape along the border of Routt and Rio Blanco counties, where the high-elevation terrain of the Little Flat Tops defines the local geography. High peaks such as Pinnacle Peak and Bellyache Mtn overlook a complex network of water management features, including the Last Chance Ditch, Trout Cr Ditch, and the Rossi-Highline Ditch. These irrigation efforts supported the region's ranching and agricultural interests by redirecting seasonal snowmelt across the high plateau.
