Santa Cruz Island rises from the Pacific Ocean in this 2012 survey, revealing the western shoreline of the largest of the Channel Islands. The interior terrain is marked by coastal drainages such as Cañada De Los Sauces and Cañada Cervada, which cut through the landscape toward the sea. Human infrastructure is minimal on this part of the island, notably centered at the Santa Cruz Island Airport located just inland from the western coast.
