Lechler Ranch and Black Ranch occupy the rugged canyon floors of the Temascal region, illustrating the early 20th-century ranching life along the border of Ventura and Los Angeles Counties. The landscape is dominated by a complex network of drainages, including Santa Felicia Canyon and Devil Canyon, that cut through the northwestern edge of the Angeles National Forest.
