Gunnison National Forest dominates this high-altitude landscape, where several mountain meadows or "parks" provide breaks in the timbered terrain. Bead Park, Muddy Park, and Lick Park are scattered along the western slopes of the divide, connected by primitive routes. The northern reaches of the sheet reveal industrial activity at the Los Ocho Mine, situated near the headwaters of Cochetopa Creek.
