Schoolcraft Lake and its surrounding wetlands form the heart of this landscape in Hubbard County, where the headwaters of the Schoolcraft River wind through a dense network of glacial lakes and marshy basins. The small settlement of Yola sits in the northeast corner near the shores of Lake Minnie, connected by a grid of rural routes including Co Hwy 4 and Co Rd 95. The terrain is characterized by numerous isolated water bodies like Clancy Lake, Cranberry Lake, and Beaver Dam Lake, illustrating the complex hydrology of northern Minnesota. A notable modern addition to this historic geography is the N Country National Scenic Trail, which meanders through the southern half of the quadrangle, passing near Frieling Lake and Pine Lake. This map captures the area as it appeared in the late 2010s, showing a landscape defined by timber, water management, and the preservation of long-standing forest tracks like Spider Lake Forest Rd.
