The high ridgelines of the Anaconda Range serve as the focal point of this survey, where the Continental Divide winds through the high country along the border of Ravalli Co and Beaverhead Co. This area is defined by its deep wilderness character, with the protected Anaconda Pintler Wilderness occupying the northeastern portion of the sheet. The landscape is a critical headwaters region, where drainage from the East Fork Bitterroot River and its numerous tributaries like Springer Creek and Meadow Creek meet the high-altitude crossings at Mink Creek Saddle and Schultz Saddle.
