The Llano River winds through this central Texas landscape, where the small settlement of Scotts Crossing serves as a local waypoint between the high peaks of the Llano Uplift. The terrain is defined by prominent granite and limestone elevations, including Hog Mtn, Blount Mtn, and Bear Mtn, which rise sharply above the river valley. Numerous seasonal and perennial drainages such as Bullhead Creek, Hickory Creek, and San Fernando Creek carve through the scrubland, feeding the primary river system.
