Lavender Corner serves as the primary landmark in this early 1930s survey of the Upper Peninsula, situated where State Highway No 77 crosses the Alger and Schoolcraft County line. The landscape is defined by an intricate network of waterways and glacial lakes, including Dutch Fred Lake, Snyder Lake, and the source waters of the Tahquamenon Lakes.

Surface drainage is dominated by the Branch Fox River and its numerous tributaries, such as Camp No 7 Cr, which suggest the historic footprint of logging operations in the region. The southern portion of the map transitions into dense marshlands drained by Coal Creek and Spring Creek. Compiled in part from early aerial photographs taken by the Army Air Corps, this map provides a precise look at the transition from highland lakes to the extensive wetlands characteristic of this portion of the Seney region.
