Shoshone Hot Springs and Needle Hot Springs mark the geothermal activity of the Shoshone River valley just west of Cody. The landscape is defined by massive topographical features like Rattlesnake Mtn and Red Butte, which tower over the deep incision of the Shoshone Canyon. This area represents a critical corridor for regional water management, evidenced by the Heart Mountain Canal following the river’s course.
