Deschutes National Forest encompasses a landscape defined by volcanic geology and high-desert landmarks along the border of Lake and Deschutes counties. The southern portion of the map is dominated by the sprawling Lava flows of The Devils Garden, a distinct geological formation that stands in sharp contrast to the surrounding terrain. Isolated buttes rise across the territory, including Sixteen Butte, Rogers Butte, and the interestingly named Poly Top Butte.
