The community of Slidell anchors the northeast corner of this North Texas landscape, situated along the border of Wise and Denton counties. This area is defined by the winding course of Denton Creek, which creates a riparian corridor through the ranchlands and prairies. A significant portion of the northwest territory is occupied by the Lyndon B. Johnson National Grassland, a reclaimed landscape that supports both conservation and local recreation.
