About this map

Smithfield and Hyde Park sit at the foot of the Bear River Range, where the eastern mountain slopes meet the agricultural valley of the Cache. This landscape is defined by an intricate network of irrigation systems designed to manage snowmelt runoff, including the Logan Hyde Park and Smithfield Canal, Northern Canal, and Smithfield Canal. The settlement pattern reflects the transition from historic town centers to modern suburban expansion between North Logan and the northern reaches of Logan. West of the primary settlements, the Logan-Cache Airport occupies a flat expanse near several natural springs, such as Hopkins Spring and Chambers Spring, which feed into the Hopkins Slough. On the eastern edge, the terrain rises sharply into the Mount Naomi Wilderness, characterized by deep canyons like Smithfield Canyon and Birch Canyon.
