Soda Lake and the vast Potholes Reservoir dominate this central Washington landscape, where the high desert terrain has been transformed by a complex network of irrigation and water management. The southern reach of the reservoir gives way to a sprawling collection of smaller water bodies, including Windmill Lake, Hampton Lake, and the Sage Lakes, many of which are linked by the engineered path of the Potholes Canal. These waters provide a stark contrast to the surrounding arid geography, characterized by the elevation of Jackass Mtn and the winding course of Lower Crab Creek.
