Lake Chelan dominates the southern portion of this landscape, serving as a primary corridor for the Chelan-Lucerne Ferry route along the water. The terrain climbs sharply from the lakeshore toward high elevations in the north, where the Okanogan and Chelan County border follows the high divide of Sawtooth Ridge. This high-altitude wilderness is managed across two major preserves, the Wenatchee National Forest and the Okanogan National Forest.
