The Buffalo Peaks dominate this high-altitude landscape where the borders of Lake, Park, and Chaffee counties meet. The high country is defined by the Buffalo Peaks Wilderness, which protects the headwaters of numerous drainages including Rich Creek and Tumbling Creek. In the southwest corner, the Clear Creek Reservoir and its spillway serve as a prominent hydrological landmark near the confluence of Tiger Lily Creek and Columbia Gulch.
