Spencerville and the surrounding borderlands of Pushmataha and Choctaw Counties are defined by a network of creek drainages and small rural settlements. The terrain transitions from the elevations of Caney Mtn in the north toward the lower basins of Spencer Cr and Hampton Cr to the south. Local history is anchored by numerous community burial grounds, including Hampton Chapel Cem and Corinne Cem, which suggest the locations of early congregational life in this part of Oklahoma.
